How to Reach Your Gymnastics Goals
Throughout the Xtreme Gymnastics facility, we’re helping our young athletes achieve their goals and have fun at the same time. These are the gymnastics goal-setting steps we cover in many of our sessions:
- Cultivate a Vision: A vision is a dream transformed into reality. Xtreme Gymnastics students imagine what they want to accomplish with their goals. Some want to exercise, while others want to make friends, and still others want to grow up to join high-school and college sports teams.
- Set SMART Goals: Based on their visions, we help our little people set goals. These objectives must be SMART – specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. Expectations that fall within this framework are the likeliest to be achieved.
- Make Plans: For every long-term goal, we help our students understand that it’s important to put short-term milestones in place. Each milestone reached offers a sense of accomplishment and builds motivation and momentum. It’s also a means of assessing progress and determining whether adjustments are necessary.
- Publicize Goals: Our young athletes discuss their goals with each other. When objectives are public knowledge, there is a greater feeling of accountability. They don’t want to disappoint one another, so they’re inspired to take action and share their progress.
